For nearly a decade, NBC6 and Telemundo 51 have helped support local nonprofits working to make a difference across South Florida. This year, eight local organizations received a total of $227,000 through the stations’ grant program, part of more than $2.5 million awarded to nonprofits across South Florida and 10 other markets. The organizations were recognized during a grant ceremony at the NBC and Telemundo studios in Miramar. “It gives us an opportunity to honor and thank those nonprofits for all the work and the hard work they do year-round,” President and General Manager Jorge Carballo said. The organizations honored provide services ranging from fighting hunger and expanding access to education to supporting the arts, technology and environmental sustainability.
